Size follows the cumulative power measured by the satellites, and the halo marks those still emitting less than 12 hours ago. The coloured background is Météo-France's Météo des forêts: the danger announced for tomorrow, department by department. A department without a bulletin is left uncoloured, because missing data and low danger are not the same thing.

What this page is not
A cluster of hotspots is not a declared fire. Nobody has confirmed on the ground that it is a single event, and the satellite sees nothing between two passes. To know what to do, the reference is your prefecture, the fire service and FR-Alert. This page helps you understand what was measured, it never tells you what to do.
The hotspots come from NASA FIRMS, the announced danger from Météo-France. The grouping into fires is ours, and the methodology describes it. Permanent heat sources (flares, steelworks) are excluded: they burn every day and are not wildfires.
