The risk that a fire starts and spreads tomorrow, department by department. Météo-France publishes it every day during the fire season, and it is the only data on this site that speaks about the future.

Météo-France publishes the Météo des forêts from early June to late September. Out of season there is nothing to show, and that is normal: vegetation fire risk is not tracked daily for the rest of the year.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Météo des forêts forecast wildfires?
No. It says how far weather conditions would help a fire spread if one started: temperature, humidity, wind and vegetation dryness. Very high danger does not mean a fire will break out, and low danger guarantees nothing.
When is the bulletin published?
Météo-France publishes it every day around 5 pm, for the next day and the day after. This site picks it up the same evening. Out of season, from late September to early June, there is no bulletin.
Is the danger given per municipality?
No, it is published for the whole department. A mountain village and a garrigue village in the same department get the same level, although their vegetation has nothing in common. That is a limit of the bulletin, not of how it is shown here.
What should I do when the danger is very high?
The Météo des forêts is not an instruction. Access bans to forest areas, restrictions on works and evacuations are decided by the prefecture. The reference remains your prefecture, the fire service and FR-Alert.
